Bihar govt says no to NEET, to file petition in HC

The Bihar government may file a writ petition in the Patna high court against the Medical Council of India's proposed move to hold a National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to post graduate medical courses and MBBS courses from the next academic sessions countrywide. "We have sent a proposal to the government for moving the high court against the MCI's notifications for holding the NEET-PG as well as NEETUG from the next sessions," controller of examination, health department, Dr NP Yadav told HT on Monday. "The Bihar government's stand is clear on this count. It doesn't want either NEETPG or NEET-UG. It is strongly in favour of holding its own examinations," Yadav added. He argued, that students from Bihar would face several hurdles in competing in the single entrance tests, as they had hardly any facility for coaching in the state. Also, the syllabus being followed by the Bihar School Examination Board was qu

NEET UG: Hindu Mahasabha opposes NEET for state citing syllabus inadequacy

NAGPUR: Even as the state prepares for a common medical entrance exam next year, a city-based organization is planning to put a spoke in the wheel. Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha (ABHM) claims that the syllabus of state board is still not par with the CBSE, hence it would be 'discrimination' against students here. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) will be based on the National Council of Educational Research Training (NCERT) syllabus, which the CBSE follows. The ABHM claim is based on the state cabinet's decision last week for a common engineering exam. The cabinet decided that the Std XII syllabus will be updated again next year keeping in view the engineering entrance test scheduled for summer of 2014. The state had, in fact, updated Std XII syllabus in the current academic session itself. Mohan Karemore of ABHM said, "If the government wants to update the syllabus next year again, then it means that the current syllabus is not up to the mark. So,

NEET UG: Maharashtra notifies single entrance test for medical, dental courses

PUNE: The state government has formally adopted the Medical Council of India's (MCI) single entrance test plan, called the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG), for admissions to medical and dental courses from academic year (AY) 2013-14. "We are releasing an official notification today regarding the conduct of NEET-UG in Maharashtra from 2013," state director of medical education and research (DMER) Praveen Shingare told TOI on Wednesday. He ruled out the possibility of the state joining the NEET-UG from 2014 instead of 2013, as was demanded by some Pune-based public organisations and activists. An estimated 10 lakh students are expected to appear for the maiden NEET-UG, which is to be held on May 5, 2013, for admissions to 355 medical and 29 dental colleges across the country. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct the NEET-UG and will prepare a merit list for the respective state authorities. The Union government h

Another Cheating Scam busted

NEW DELHI: Months after a gang involved in leaking postgraduate medical entrance papers at AIIMS was busted, cops have detected another similar high-tech racket. This time, the cheats were caught leaking questions of the Staff Selection Commission Exam, organized by the Government of India, via cellphones concealed in undergarments and earphones strapped to the wrist, hidden under customized full-sleeve shirts. Three people have been arrested in this connection — Shakti Khatri, Manish Khatri, Kuldeep. They were picked up from different examination centres. The examination for filling various posts of government officials in different ministries and departments was being conducted at various centres in the city last Sunday. Kuldeep, who belongs to Muzaffarnagar, appeared for the exam at Geeta Colony, impersonating a candidate named Rahul Phalswal. He forwarded the questions via text messages to the mastermind of the gang who dictated him the answers. Phalswal is suspected to be a maj

Confusions about NEET PG and DNB CET Dec 2012

With the delay in announcement of NEET there are lots of confusion and rumours spreding about these exams. for example.. Will there be NEET or AIPPG? Who will be conducting NEET? If NBE is conducting NEET, will there be separate DNB CET Dec 2012? (yup some people are spreading the word that if NBE will be conducting NEET there wont be DNB CET Dec session, and the merit list will be prepared from result of NEET for DNB also) When will be the exam NEET or no NEET, i.e. dates of examination? and many other.... Well what i feel and suggest to all students is... whether its NEET or AIPPG and whether DNB CET will be there for Dec session or not, the subjects and the syllabus will remain the same so in place of taking tension about such rumors, keep the head cool and keep studying as hard as possible... if you are prepared you can take any exam that happens. Secondly we have already tasted the online pattern once in DNB CET Aug 2012, and it was not that bitter, (i mean all that rumo

Know More: Item response theory, which will be used in DNB CET

This same theory will be applied for making rank list of DNB CET, as published by natboard on its website... Read more about the notice here . If you are curios to know more about this system of marking read the details here... Item response theory From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia In psychometrics, item response theory (IRT) also known as latent trait theory, strong true score theory, or modern mental test theory, is a paradigm for the design, analysis, and scoring of tests, questionnaires, and similar instruments measuring abilities, attitudes, or other variables. It is based on the application of related mathematical models to testing data. Because it is generally regarded as superior to classical test theory, it is the preferred method for the development of high-stakes tests such as the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and Graduate Manag
