Post Graduate Degree Courses in Medicine (MD/MS) Admission 2013-14

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to the following post graduate degree courses in Medicine and Surgical Specialties (MD/MS) for the academic year 2013-14 at Chettinad Hospital and Research Institute
No domicile restriction and candidates belonging to any State/Union Territory of India can apply

MD Pre/Para Clinical Courses (3 years)

MD: Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Community Medicine

MD/MS Clinical Courses (3 years)

MD: General Medicine; Dermatology, Venerology and Leprosy; Anesthesiology, Respiratory Medicine
MS: Orthopedics, Ophthalmology

Eligibility: Eligibility to appear for the All India Level Medical Post Graduate Common Entrance Examination for MD/MS courses, pass in MBBS degree course from a medical college recognized by medical council of India and completion of internship (CRRI) on or before 31st March, 2013

Date of entrance exam 27th January, 2013, Sunday

Exam Centres: Chettinad Hospital and Research Institute, Rajiv Gandhi Salai, Padur, Kelambakkam, Kancheepuram Distt

Hall tickets will be issued at Registrar’s office, Administrative Block, Chettinad Academy of Research and Education one day before the All India Level Medical Graduate Common Entrance Examination

Selection: selection will be made on merit, based on the marks secured on the entrance examination conducted by the university on All India basis

Application Form: Application form will be issued from 27th November, 2012, Tuesday
Applications forms can be obtained from the office of the Registrar, Administrative Block, Chettinad Academy of Research and Education, Chettinad Health City campus on payment of Rs 2,000/- (Rs two thousand only) by cash or by means of a demand draft

If the application form is downloaded from the university website www.chettinadhealthcity.com a demand draft for Rs 2000/- (Rs two thousand only) drawn in favour of Chettinad Academy of Research and Education payable at Chennai is to be enclosed

Photo copies of the following certificates duly attested by a Gazetted Officer should be enclosed along with the application form for entrance examination; 
  • MBBS degree certificate/provisional pass certificate I/II;
  •  mark sheets of the university examination for the whole of the MBBS course; 
  • attempt certificate (first year to final year wherever applicable);
  • community certificate; 
  • internship certificate (CRRI); 
  • permanent registration certificate issued by medical council of India or respective state medical council; 
  • transfer certificate; migration certificate (wherever applicable) and
  • conduct certificate issued by the Head of the Institution last studied
The duly filled in application form with relevant copies of documents should reach the Registrar, Chettinad Academy of Research and Education, Chettinad Health City Campus, Rajiv Gandhi Salai, Padur, Kelambakkam-603013, Kancheepuram Distt on or before 31st December, 2012, Monday, 05.00 p.m.

MCI Relaxes eligibility criteria for Teachers in Medical Colleges

The Medical Council of India (MCI) has relaxed the experience criteria required for teachers taking MBBS classes to be eligible to teach PG students. Earlier, a PG teacher needed to have a total of seven years of experience of which five years were supposed to be as Assistant Professor. The relaxed norms now mandate only a four-year experience as Assistant Professor which means a relaxation of one year. The move is to meet the shortage of PG teachers, said a senior official in the Union Health Ministry. A decision in this regard was taken recently at a meeting of the Board of Governors of the MCI which is an autonomous body under the Health Ministry to regulate the medical education standard in the country.
