Karnataka Private Medical and Dental Colleges Association and Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering Colleges Association have set up “COMEDK” to organize a ‘Common Entrance Test and centralized Counselling’, that would facilitate selection of candidates on merit for admissions to postgraduate courses offered by member institutions (Medical and Dental). COMEDK entrance test & publication of test score and rank list will be followed by centralized counseling (Single window system). The details of the arrangement made will be publicized in due course on our website, www.comedk.org.

Candidates are advised to visit the COMEDK website (www.comedk.org) regularly for all updates.

COMEDK invites applications for taking COMEDK PGET 2012 from eligible candidates seeking admission to PG courses in Medical and Dental streams for the academic year 2012-2013. For relevant and important information about COMEDK PGET 2012, kindly refer to the brochure on the website (www.comedk.org)

Eligibility Criteria for applying to COMEDK PGET 2012

Applicants should have successfully completed their M.B.B.S. / B.D.S. from an institution recognized by the MCI / DCI and must have completed / completing their internship by 30th April 2012.

Applications to be filled online on our website (www.comedk.org) after obtaining a DD for Rs. 2000/- (Non refundable) in favour of ‘COMEDK’, payable at Bangalore being the expenses towards holding of Entrance Test and Counselling and posted to the below given COMEDK address along with the DD and the documents asked for on or before 13/01/2012.

Note:

Neither the Application forms or filled in Applications will be sold or received in COMEDK Office or by any member Institutions.

Rank list / Rank Card will be prepared only for those students who become eligible for admission to Post Graduate Courses as per the Medical Council of India or Dental Council of India Regulations.

Shortage of Faculty in Medical Colleges

The requirement of teaching faculty in any medical college and other disciplines of medical sciences is determined by the regulations framed by the respective professional Councils. An institution is given recognition/renewal by the respective Council only on meeting the minimum standard requirements as per the regulations.  In so far as the six new AIIMS being set up under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana at Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur and Rishikhesh are concerned, the requirement of faculty has been assessed and the number of faculty assessed is 289 posts.  A number of steps have been taken in order to meet the increasing need of medical faculty, which include the following:  The teacher student ratio in postgraduate courses has been increased to 1:2.
