ASCI-PGDHM Program


The ASCI Post Graduate Diploma in Hospital management (ASCI-PGDHM) is an AICTE-approved two-year full-time residential programme. The programme has an approved capacity of 30 students per batch.

The Programme is conducted over 4 semesters, comprising 3 semesters of classroom teaching, practical and field work, and one semester on internship at healthcare institutions.

Course Curriculum: The Course curriculum has been designed to cover the conceptual and qualitative skills needed by administrators/managers in contemporary hospitals. While hospitals are at the core, the program also deals with associated sectors in the healthcare arena having direct interface with hospitals.

Internship: During Internship, the participants undergo training for a minimum of sixteen weeks with a hospital or a healthcare organization. The internship is designed to help bridge the sometimes-significant gap between academic preparation and the field of practice.

Faculty: Faculty from the healthcare related industry complements high competent core faculty.

Location: The programme is housed at the Centre for Healthcare Management, ASCI at its College Park Campus at Banjara Hills in Hyderabad, the healthcare capital of the country. The institute provides the students excellent opportunities for doing live projects with hospitals of all types including single specialty, multi-specialty, super-specialty, corporate-hospitals, trust-hospitals, government hospitals.

Facilities: The campus is located in the heart of the city of Hyderabad at Banjara Hills. Good quality facilities are provided to enhance the learning environment, access to recreational activities, sports and library facilities, and comfortable and safe on-campus housing and quality cuisine.

Eligibility and Admission Process for ASCI-PGDHM Batch (2012-2014)

Eligibility Criteria:

A Graduate in any discipline (with 50% aggregate marks and in case of SC/ST 45%) with MAT/CAT/XAT/ATMA/CMAT/GMAT/ANY OTHER STATE LEVEL MANAGEMENT CET.

Fee:

  • Tuition and academic activities: Rs.4,90,000/-
  • Accommodation: Rs. 1,00,000/-
  • Catering and food provision: Rs. 1,00,000/-

Admission Process: Application form can be downloaded from our website, completed and submitted with self-attested copies of certificates and a demand draft (DD) of Rs. 1,000/- in favour of “Administrative Staff College of India” payable at Hyderabad, to the address provided below. Forms can also be obtained at our office on payment through DD. Last date for accepting applications is May 31, 2012.

All applicants meeting the eligibility criteria will be called for Group Discussions (GD) and Personal Interviews (PI) at New Delhi, Kolkata or Hyderabad, and will be notified of the dates.

GDs/PIs will be held in May 2012 in New Delhi, Hyderabad, and Kolkata. The list of selected candidates will be put up on the ASCI website and classes will commence in the first week of July 2012.

MCI Relaxes eligibility criteria for Teachers in Medical Colleges

The Medical Council of India (MCI) has relaxed the experience criteria required for teachers taking MBBS classes to be eligible to teach PG students. Earlier, a PG teacher needed to have a total of seven years of experience of which five years were supposed to be as Assistant Professor. The relaxed norms now mandate only a four-year experience as Assistant Professor which means a relaxation of one year. The move is to meet the shortage of PG teachers, said a senior official in the Union Health Ministry. A decision in this regard was taken recently at a meeting of the Board of Governors of the MCI which is an autonomous body under the Health Ministry to regulate the medical education standard in the country.
