Good NEWS for BBHU Students: Now final yr PG students can take Phd entrance

Here’s some good news for students of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar (Central) University (BBAU). The final year post-graduate students of the university will now be allowed to take the PhD entrance test along with their PG final examination. And secondly, hostel inmates can look forward to better canteen service as the university proposes to introduce a co-operative and subsidised mess.

BBAU chancellor Navjivan Lal Lakhanpal, after a brainstorming meeting with vicechancellor RC Sobti, took a decision to this effect during his visit to the campus on Tuesday.

Sources said that during the course of the interaction many of the PG students pleaded that they be allowed to appear in the PhD entrance examination along with the final year PG exam. They were losing out a full academic year because of the earlier policy of the university.

The chancellor found the demand of the students to be genuine and took a call to let them take PhD entrance the same year when they take PG final examination. Hostel inmates of BBAU have been complaining about poor food quality and other facilities. The chancellor asked the vice-chancellor to explore the possibility of introducing a cooperative mess.

“If required, the university may provide some subsidy also so that students enjoy quality food in the hostel,” he said. The inmates may also have a common room, water cooler and purifier in every hostel, sources said.

A decision in this regard was taken recently at a meeting of the Board of Governors of the MCI which is an autonomous body under the Health Ministry to regulate the medical education standard in the country. The official explained, “The existing regulations provides that a medical teacher can become postgraduate teacher after eight years of teaching experience out of which five years should be as Assistant Professor. This regulation was made when teaching experience of five y
